Eyelid Correction (Blepharoplasty)
Blepharoplasty is a popular cosmetic procedure that can be used to reduce the appearance of drooping eyelids. This type of surgery involves removing excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelid, as well as reshaping the orbital bones around the eyes. The goal is to lift up the lids so they appear more natural and less wrinkled.
The main benefit of this operation is to improve your overall facial appearance. It will also help you look younger by reducing the signs of aging in the face including wrinkles, bags under the eyes, and sagging skin on the forehead.
The procedure itself takes about an hour and requires local anesthesia. You’ll receive general sedation at times during the procedure to keep you relaxed. An incision is made along the crease of the eye (medial canthus) where it meets the nose. Skin and fat are removed from the area and the underlying bone is reshaped to create a flatter, smoother surface for the lid. Smaller amounts of tissue may need to be taken off depending on the severity of your condition.
Some minor side effects include bruising, swelling, numbness, itching, soreness, redness, and tenderness in the area. Some patients require more than one operation to achieve desired results. In such cases, they will have several procedures performed over time in order to allow you to heal between appointments.
